Marcus Cordock is a bass player originating from the island of Burray in Orkney, a remote group of islands at the north of Scotland.
Marcus chose to study music in Glasgow, Scotland the UNESCO city of culture, with a large and prolific music scene. Whilst a student Marcus studied under bass players Campbell Owens (Aztec Camera), and Ed McFarlane (Nina Simone, Edwin Star), and learned about the business of music from drummer Ted McKenna (SAHB, Rory Gallagher, Michael Schenker).
After graduating Marcus went onto work on the session scene recording and performing for various employers such as Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Smoove & Turrell, Paul Quinn (Teenage Fan Club), The Chair, Paul Rose, Roy Mette, Bags of Rock, Eugene Twist, Andy Taylor Group and has recorded bespoke pieces of music for **Highland Park Distillery (Whisky Brand), Glasgow Rangers (Football Team).
In 2012 Marcus joined band “Ray Harris and The Fusion Experience” (Now known as “Ray Harris”), and has since been a full time member touring the UK Jazz and Funk festival scene, international tours to Jakarta, Indonesia and support slots include The Average White Band, James Brown, CHIC, Sister Sledge. Marcus also co-wrote the most recent album “Propaganda” “One of the best records of the year! Soul, Latin & Psych…love it“ - Eddie Miller (Acid Jazz Records)
Also in 2012 Marcus joined Pop Rock Band “Little Eye”, and Co-wrote the debut album and all subsequent releases. All were produced by renowned drummer Geoff Dugmore (Jonny Halliday, Robbie Williams, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Killing Joke), who has been a massive influence on Marcus as a musician and a creator. Little Eye highlights include, Isle of Wight Festival 2014 (Main Stage), Support slots for Blondie, James, Markus Feehilly, international touring (Germany, Sweden, Luxembourg, Holland, France, Belgium) and single “Contagious” recached no. 14 in the official Italian airplay rock chart.
In 2017 Marcus joined The Bay City Rollers as a full time member and has since toured Japan, UK, and US with more tour dates upcoming in 2019. Also in 2017 Marcus joined the band for singer/songwriter “Calum Frame” and has recently recorded Calum’s first four singles which were being released in 2018/19.
Marcus recently produced The Andy Taylor Group album Drifting Days which was the no.1 played album on the International Blues Broadcasting Radio Stations at the beginning of 2020.
